• What is the difference between a Thermal Transfer Label, and a Direct Thermal Label?

  The main difference between a thermal transfer label, and a direct thermal label, is in how the ink is applied to the label. Thermal transfer labels require a thermal transfer ribbon to be used, to melt and transfer the ink onto the label material. Direct thermal labels on the other hand, do not require ribbon. Thermal transfer labels are generally more durable and can withstand exposure to harsh environments, making them suitable for outdoor applications or long-term storage. Direct thermal printing is often faster than thermal transfer, making it suitable for applications that require quick label production. Direct thermal labels are more sensitive to heat and light, and may fade or degrade over time, especially if exposed to extreme conditions.
• Do I need to buy ribbon with my labels?

  Not all labels require ribbon for printing. Only thermal transfer labels require the use of ribbon.
