Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are several possible reasons why your tape might not be sticking/adhering to your boxes properly.
    • Box Quality: A damaged or worn box will make it more difficult for the tape to adhere. If you are using recycled cardboard boxes, there may be fewer fibers for the tape adhesive to bond with, making it less likely to stick. In addition, dirt, dust, or other contaminants on the box's surface can prevent the tape from properly sticking.
    • Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, can affect the tapes effectiveness. Cold temperatures can make the adhesive less sticky, while excessive heat can cause it to dry out. High humidity can also interfere with the tapes ability to adhere because moisture can weaken the adhesive's bond.
    • Tape and Application Quality: Ensure you are using the correct type of tape for the application, as some tapes are designed for specific surfaces or conditions. Not applying enough pressure or not allowing the adhesive to set properly can also cause the tape to peel off.
  • Both acrylic and hot melt carton sealing tapes are an excellent solution for general purpose carton closing. There are however some applications in which the individual properties of each type of adhesive can provide specific benefits. This chart provides assistance with selecting the correct type of adhesive for your application.

  • The tape with the strongest adhesion will vary depending on factors including the material of the surface you are taping, and environmental conditions. Overall, duct tape is considered to have the strongest adhesion, and is ideal for heavy-duty applications like bundling and repairing.  For general purpose carton closing, hot melt tape is considered to have the strongest adhesion and be a good choice when looking for excellent initial tack.
  • No, E-Tape rolls cannot be used with standard 3" core tape dispensers. E-tape has a smaller 2" core, and double the length of tape per roll than standard rolls. The rolls are designed to fit on the E-tape dispensers.
